My Pokemon Ranch - Wii - Review Empty My Pokemon Ranch - Wii - Review

Post by pichu Mon Oct 13, 2008 12:20 pm

When you hear Pokemon, you think of battles, contests, trading, collecting. Well My Pokemon Ranch for the wii ware is nothing like that. You do collect but for some reason it doesn’t feel like collecting when you first catch an Onyx or a Dragonite. Instead of training and training and searching for the pokemon you desperately desire, in this game it’s handed at you.

if you’re looking to spend a few hours for some fun in My pokemon Ranch, it’s not going to be as fun as you though you would get from a normal Pokemon game. You start out in this game by receiving a new Pokemon that has arrived to you from your ranch owner. The appearance of the Pokemon doesn’t help the game much either. They all look like polygons and nothing very realistic or artistic, the graphics of this game are similar of that of an early game cube game.

Now after you were getting acquainted with the new pokemon you have received, you get to look at what they do. Walk, walk, walk, sit, stand for a few seconds, walk again, maybe get into a little mini fight, but the mini fight is the best excitement you’ll get from watching these guys walking around. The fights aren’t really that violent, it’s just throwing an electric shock or fire spin them, then walk away. If you’re lucky they may climb on top of each other.

After you looked at your pokemon for a few minutes of walking around etc, you start to look at the other pokemon to see if they are more exciting. Often it will end up the same as what the first pokemon was doing. Hey look, you see a strange box in the middle of the field. Well this strange box is the a toy that also comes to your ranch daily. Each toy is different so you may want to see what the toy does that’s really fun. The toy that you receive will either throw the pokemon into the air or do some other nonsense. Quite frankly that might be the most enjoyment that you get out of this game.

You can also take pictures with your pokemon whether it be a squirtle or a buneary and send it to your wii mailbox to share with other people how silly the pokemon look! The ranch gets bigger over time so it can be filled with more pokemon… more pokemon to be walking around that.

After 10 minutes or so, you start to get bored and want to leave already. But before you go! The ranch owner asks you what kind of pokemon to get for tomorrow? Do you want a fast pokemon or a slow pokemon? A yellow or a white? A water type or a grass type? Then they say that you will get that pokemon for tomorrow and concludes the game with a silhouette of the pokemon that will come tomorrow.

So if you’re looking for a game that will last you hours and hours and keep you on the edge of your seat… this game may not be for you. But if your into the kind of game of staring at pokemon walk around for endless amount of minutes doing nothing, then that’s what this game is all about. Not sure weather it’s worth 1000 points of download, or maybe even 500. So I guess I paid a bit much for a game that’s about staring =/

I will be nice today, but I give this game

an abysmal 3 / 10

If only this game had so, so much more than staring…

Good review pichu... I hope you don´t mind that I had to change the title... but rules are rules and it makes the review section look more neat...

Nice to see you don´t just blindly like anything Pokemon... sounds like a very dull and uninspired game... to bad... let me know if my preview was any good....
Very Happy
