Nintendo 3DS

* Final Nintendo 3DS design was revealed
* 3DS will launch in Japan on Feb 26, 2011 and will cost 25,000 yen (around $299 USD)
* 3DS will launch in US and Europe on March 2011. No price was given.
* Launch color schemes for the 3DS will be cosmo black and aqua blue
* Miis will be usable on the Nintendo 3DS
* Light on upper-right of 3DS unit, practically on R shoulder, shows when your console has passed another 3DS
* Taking people's pictures using the 3DS's camera will allow you to create an automatic Mii
* 3DS's tag mode can store data for multiple games at once, and you do not have to be playing the game at the time to exchange data
* The 3DS will have a home button and will support multi-tasking
- DS functions work within games. You can visit the home menu, notification lists, and internet browser while playing a game.
* You can put the system in a cradle for faster internet downloads
* 3DS supports SD cards up to to 32GB
* Miis can be saved onto an SD card
* 3DS unit will come w 2GB SD card packed in.
* Tag Mode will work right out of the box, no set-up necessary.
* 3DS will be able to download Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games
* Confirmed downloable titles include Wario Land and Link's Awakening DX
* All downloable virtual console games will support 3D
* 3DS can connect on WiFi when in sleep mode and dowload content, saves, rankings and more (much like WiiConnect24)

- Six AR (augmented reality) cards for use with the 3DS’ camera

- Backwards compatible with Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games.

I'm just going to give my entire wallet to Nintendo. The price for it is kinda steep, but very justified.

For what ?...3D ? unless you absolutely need to play on the go you can get a cheaper console with better looking games and play them on a bigger screen... for me the whole point of gaming on the go is to have a inexpensive simple experience you can take anywhere... not pay more than a home console and have great looking games on a tiny screen... but then again I'm not much of a mobile gamer (cause its stupid ) and people will buy loads of these anyway... I still think Nintendo is growing arrogant again...

I was going to make this thread last night, but didn't want to stay up for the whole thing. After I learned about the date and price I went to sleep.

Just so everyone knows the 25,000 yen price has the 5% Japanese sales tax already included. Also, $50 games sell for $70 in Japan; so the 3DS will not be $300 here... I'm thinking it will be $249.99. Still a lot, but for what you get with the system I believe it will be worth it:

I'm quite the opposite, I love mobile gaming. The games all look to be extremely high quality and I'm a fan of 3d and all the features it has, so the price is justified for me. I'm not speaking for everyone.

Your post didn't prove that it isn't $300. I'm also not going to buy a $250 handheld. Especially when I can get a Wii for $200

Where does this mentality come from that mobile hardware is suddenly shit? Mobile hardware is some of the best tech coming out and this is well worth the $200+ for what its coming with. Everyone complaining about it being more expensive then current gen hardware is insane. This is starting the 8th generation of video games you expect this to be the same price as the current DS? You're all insane and need to stop complaining. (Yea I thought it was gonna be cheaper than the Wii but the last few weeks I had a change of opinion as I started learning more.)

People love to forget that all these systems were priced a lot more 5 years ago.

Unless you dont like playing consoles as much? This is a whole new console so its very justified. I prefer playing portables over consoles and apparently so do a hell of a lot more people. The graphics argument is moot since this practically HD with 3D and bigger screen doesnt mean much especially if you dont have a an expensive as TV to play games on. Portable system mean gaming on the go but again plenty of people play these games at home like they do anything other console and its not like the 3DS isn't gonna quick games to play on the go either. Then again everything you say related to gaming is synical as shit. You probably wish it was still NES/SNES era.

The fact of the matter is that now that I drive myself everywhere I don't play portable systems as often. Sure I play them at home, but I play the home consoles way more often, and the prices I am willing to pay reflect that. Why pay 20% more when I'm going to play it half as often...?

And what was the DS priced as when it released?

Wii ain't bad but the DS is a much better system but thats just my opinion and thats where these discussions turn to shit. We like different thing so its not really worth discussing. You u say you prefer playing on consoles and I prefer handhelds and if it you don't see yourself playing it than of course you should notpay $300 for it.

This is comparable to the 599 PS3 price tag.

FYI I could care less about it's price, if I want it I'll get it even at 299. I'm just saying that you gotta admit that Nintendo is taking a step in the wrong direction.
