1 at a time? pretty much no limit there till I get to tired to fight... all at once... still a lot cause they aren't strong enough to push me over and not smart enough do use advanced tactics... but if there was like over 100 of them the combined force would bring me down eventually even if they where crushing them selfs... and question is if I can use a shoe to bash them or take of my belt and clobber them with the metal buckle or maybe use one of the unconscious 5year olds as a weapon...

Why are flies so annoying?

Cause they are attracted by your sweet sweet sweat... and they like flying past your ear while you are almost asleep... also they are faster and more agile than most other flying insects so getting them isn't always that easy... especially in a not so well lit room of if there aren't many bright surfaces to spot them on...
