Weapon of choice for zombie apocalypse?

Simple question really. If zombies were to take over how would you defend yourself? Stab them, burn them to a crisp, explode them, head shot, etc. Which weapon would you choose?

I picked other. If I had to have any gun during a zombie apocalypse I would want a rifle. They shoot straight, ammo is easily found, large magazine, light weight and portable, and can be silenced if need be.

Rocket launchers, and flamethrowers though big and scary are heavy and clumsy and make a lot of noise which would attract a lot of new zombies, and ammo for a rocket launcher isn't exactly common.

Knifes and swords do have the benefits of being quiet and not having to worry about ammo, but they are only effective at close range. And that is definitely something you don't want. They also spread a lot of zombie blood which could pose the risk of infecting you D:

Machine guns can shoot a lot of bullets at one time, but they are not the very accurate. So it can do the same amount of damage a rifle can but with many more bullets. Which you would have to carry somewhere sacrificing precious space needed for food and medicine.

Shotguns would also be a nice weapon in case of a zombie apocalypse. Though they don't have the magazine size that I would like.

Speak for yourself... if used properly they can be very accurate... it all depends on the situation... everything that uses ammo will run out eventually or if you carry to much it will slow down... and if you want to carry it around in a car or truck thats very easy to spot and you need to get gas... and everyone knows someone usually gets killed at gas stations... melee weapong never run out of ammo... but unless your a ninja master its a save bet you will just get swarmed and eaten sooner or later... my motto for the zombie apocolypse... if you can´t beat em, join em... so I would pull a bill murray and try to blend in... if I had to go with one weapon I think I´d go for a evil dead style "boomstick" shotgun... cause if you´d want to shop smart... shop s-mart ...

I would go with flamethrower. Sure, it causes a bigger scene and you have to use it at a close range, but at least you can be sure the zombies are dead. We don't really know what it takes to kill zombies, but I'm pretty sure if they are burnt to dust they won't be getting back up. The same can't be said about a rifle or shotgun.

flamethrouwers will only bring you more troubble than help... also good luck trying to find ammo for it... and how long do you expect a zombie to take till its dust ??? how do you know they even feel pain and won´t just keep coming at you ??? shotgun and short to medium range is as save as its gets...

another viable option is a long range chainsaw... easy to find ammo for but heavy over time... and chainsaws always die on me when I need them most...
