COMPUTER FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Odds are at some point during this I will get tired of ranting as I have spent 3 days working on fix this computer problem and could scream.

Long story short be careful using malwarebytes

So I was removing your run of the mill virus when BAM I was side swiped by a trader malwarebytes it tricked by befriending me then screwing me over.

Anyways long story short some of the files for logging on to windows got I don't know, FAILED.

Basiclly when you try to log on it immediately logs you off.

Can't open safe mode
Can't open command line
Last working settings didn't help

Used XP rescue and altered log on files to no avail and then used a live CD and replaced all the files that I find the related to the problem. Also rescanned for viruses found nothing that fixed anything.

Anyways, I just partictioned the drive and installed kunbuntu which is working fine, and will be reinstalling XP as soon as I find the disk.

That stinks, hope you fix it.

See what the stress of 3 days of trying to fix a computer can do.

The anti-virus software Malwarebytes has been identified by many with the same problem as the root of the problem, not a virus.

The problem is it is impossible to log on to windows.

Avast and Spybot are all I need. All other anti-virus anti-malware programs I assume to be malware unless otherwise informed.

But sorry to hear you are having problems. If anyone can fix it....it's you, though. If it were my computer I would have to chuck it in the garbage.

Well, i use Spybot as well and try to keep as far as possible from anything that might harm my pc, so i have no problems

But i know you can fix it, even more now that you have the ubuntu installed

Good Luck, I will have to research this problem tomorrow. I don't want this coming to bite me.

Have you checked if your PC is properly plugged in ???

I don´t know enough about system restoration to know exactly what you are talking about... thats why I keep my OS and my important files on separate drives... I usually ride the horse till its dead or at least unrideable and then just formant the OS drive and reinstall everything... not a perfect solution I know but its worked all right for me... oh and I use Avira AntiVir Personal which is free, updated regularly and has done well for years...

On the Malwarebytes forum they claim that the problem results from removing a trojan that infects the unserinit.exe. When pressed by the subject about other Anti-virus software being better the response was awesome.

"The reason it will never cause this issue is because it won't touch the trojans that jack with userinit.exe, and therefore you would still be infected."

So I guess their theory is if you have bronchitis removing your lungs would be OK because the infection would be gone even though you would be dead

I should note replacing the files and regestry keys did not work for me though has for other but that is ok because it will make it real easy for me to clean up this lap tops hard drive which has so much wasted space. (IBM like to install 18 million unnecessary programs) Anyways I recovered everything I need and will reformat and reinstall windows.

Though I will probably not get to that till later as through kubuntu we have regained all the primary function for using the laptop. Hell would almost just use linux instead if it where not for the fact my wife heavily uses a wacom and installing it properly on linux is a nightmare. Ouside that I manged to get all the programs we need up and running fine.

looks like u and pichu same boat . he had some laptop trouble too sounds similar. visiting same porn sites ?! But yea hope you fix the problem soon and get it to work. As much as I love pcs i hate dealing with pc related stuff....
