Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Well folks this is the other selection from the NS Club members. The schedule for Gurren Lagann is Thursdays from 9:00pm EST - 10:00pm EST STARTING NEXT WEEK, DECEMBER 4. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann looks to be fun and entertaining. I hope we all enjoy this as I have no in depth idea on this one.

Here is a short plot summary:

In their closed-off underground village, Kamina and Simon chafe at the limits imposed by the village elder. Yet all this will change, when Simon stumbles across a fantastic device - just as the village's peace is broken by a violent intrusion.

I have the 720p version and will be watching it on my HDTV =D

I look forward to this, I already saw 2 episodes about 4 months ago >_>

I watched long time ago, great anime, probably no the best of the best, but the funny relief between the drama and action parts is practically great, like

Tonight will be fun, I already saw the 1st 2 episodes but that was way back in the summer.

Looks like this will be a fun show. It is amazing that he can drill using just his arms like that... he should be a lot more buff...

Yes I think I like this anime more already ....

Tylor doesn't have near naked fire boobs...

It's all in the technique luin.
He doesn't push with much force, but instead just places the drill lightly on the surface and let the drill's motion do it's work. ^_^

Anyway, I think it's more of a cardio exercise. Physiologically, men normally don't really gain much muscle at that age, not enough testosterone.

I'd be more concerned about rickets from the lack of vitamin D from hiding from the sun for too long rather than muscle mass.

I must be the only one who liked better Tylor. I dunno why, but I didn't like the characters much. I hope it gets better in the next episodes

Honestly Zex, It actually felt like you didn't want to like the show.
Your complaints were :

"7 yr old mole kid character"
No explaination why, you just think he's weird.

"Kamina saying 'koitsu' every three words"
You think it's insulting and it striked you.

"I hate leeron and he's only been shown for 15 seconds"
I honestly laugh at his gay jokes, the awkward atmosphere he creates among the other guys and how he moves so weirdly(each of his fingers can do the wave).

You've been vocal with your complaints and what's weird is no one else yesterday mentioned they were bothered by the same things that bothered you. It got to the point where I honestly thought you were just nitpicking(koitsu).
But as they say, different strokes for different folks.

I really do hope you grow to like this show, just because it would be a shame for you (or for anyone else for that matter) to spend hours and hours of your life to watch something you don't want to.

Also, I think this comparison thing has got to stop.(that includes me... boobs..)
It adds nothing to the discussion (except comparing boobs...)
I mean, It's fun to tease luin but let's just try to enjoy the shows for their individual strengths. (boobs...)

I agree this one was more enjoyable then tylor, and it is possible to decide which you enjoy more an apple or an orange, the comparision is legit.

Anyways we will all fight it out in UT.

Team Tylor vs Team Gurren - winner has the better show

I didn't say the comparison wasn't legit.
I said the comparison doesn't really add much discussion material, atleast not at the first 2-4 episodes... Personally I think it can even be somewhat detrimental to the enjoyment of the "tylor team"(I'll kick your assess in UT 2v4 ^_^) when people just say "this show is better than tylor". (atleast add something with substance as to why)
(Now there are exceptions when fans start a pissing contest where they actually provide really good points as to why their "something" of choice is better than the other, but somehow I don't see that happening here through this method, of course I could always be proven wrong if someone steps up to the plate)

I mean one of the points of watching this show together is for discussion, hence I think why we're only watching 2 episodes a week.
If not, then what's the point of watching it together when our discussions only cover "series x is better than series y".
If that was the case, then we'd be better off marathoning this show on our own with our family or girl/boy/normal/friends.

I, for one, agree with you on some things here iclim. I want to discuss things reasonably, and about the themes of the shows too, but if people don't post something I have nothing to "rip apart" (lolz jk). In any case, I do not want to get into a comparison match between any animes unless they are about themes of the anime and how they can relate [to] something.

I thought it was "moving". ^_^

Anyway, I think most people here just want to enjoy the shows in a light hearted manner, If they want to compare let them compare, what right do we have to force them to a discussion about metaphors, character development, etc..
I took that thought too seriously because I thought discussions are what anime clubs are about. (what are they about?) And realized I was trying to conform people to act how I wanted them to act in the anime club.
Case and point:
Enjoy the shows in our own individual reasonable way, no "kill joy" rules needed.

I started to write a 5 pages essay about how much I like one anime than other... but after I wrote few words... I decided that is not fun...
And I watch anime for fun... just for that... so I resumed my statement and believes in one single paragraph if that is not good enough to the committee let me know...

Now did you honestly set out to do that? Or are you lying to us to try to prove a point?

I like the "life" pic.
I stared at it for awhile first time I saw it.
Looks kinda squished though because it was too big for this page.

I really like this anime and find myself laughing more then usual watching it.
