Apple iPad

Well I know this was announced yesterday but I got lazy and waited 'till now

General Info:

Display: 9.7-inch, 4:3
Wireless: Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (and 3G in the 3G model)
Location: Digital compass and GPS (in 3G model)
Capacity: 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB flash drive
Price: $499, $599 and $699, add and extra $130 for 3G models and $30 per month for unlimited data ($15 for 250 mb)
Processor: 1GHz Apple A4
Battery: Up to 10 hrs
Apps: It has it's own store (the Ibook store) and it's own apps (Iwork) and can use every iPhone app

The good:
It's faster than the iPhone 3gs (which is already pretty fast)
The apps store is already huge and will become hugher for it
It's a good and colorful e-reader unlike other like kindle
It's a great media player
It will eventually get cool games designed for it (and already has iPhone's games)
Pretty good web browser
Isn't really a rip-off considering this is an Apple product lol

The bad:
No camera
No flash
No widescreen
While I'm surprised that the battery (apparently) last like 5 more hours that the iPhone compared to other devices its not that much (some e-readers last like 10 days)
No USB ports
Apple removes some apps from the apps store for no reason

The ugly:
NO MULTITASKING!!!

So what do you guys think about it? I think it's cool but no multitasking screw it for me.. I can live without the rest..

I need multitasking..My attention span cannot survive only doing 1 thing at a time. :/

Yeah, that's the only thing that really stop me from wanting one, at least 2-3 apps would be nice

I think it is a stupid idea and don't know what they were thinking. Its a giant iPod touch and you would look stupid carrying something that big around. It doesn't even have flash on it..... Just a bad idea.

No Multitasking? thats fail, I hope they fix this in the later ones and I'll definitely buy one.

You would look as stupid as carrying a netbook, a laptop or an e-reader..

I really really wanted this to be awesome but it is not it is FAIL. I have a laptop and I have a iPod Touch. Why would I buy iPad?

Why has no one thought about corel Painter - FAIL

Anyways I don't mean to be so negative but I was really looking forward to this being more then what was announced. I bet they address a lot of these problems and the final product will be awesome. Either that or it will be yesterdays news real fast.

So I will keep my eye on it and hopefully they turn it around then again they have been taking their merry old time getting AppleTV up to snuff and it has been out for 2 years.

^ Nothing to apologize about. Most of us seem to agree with your sentiments. I don't see why they bothered waiting for so long to announce it if this is all that it is.

Don't worry, while you do sound a bit negative, most people think like you which isn't that far from reality, even if many of those aren't really a big deal they all together stop this thing from being a pretty cool device.

I would like to point out that I don't thing this aimed (at least mainly) for people who already has and iPhone or an iPod touch, or someone who wants to replace their laptop.. This is more like Apple taking advantage of their success with they iPhone-iPod touch like devices in order to expand and fill as much markets as possible with those kinds of devices, not everybody cares about a MP3 player like an iPod or dont want a cellphone like an iPhone but on the other hand likes to read and an e-reader is something that many people would consider.. that's where the iPad works..
It has the potential to become everything people wants, but unfortunately, unless Apple decides to make some changes it won't

What's the difference between iPad's and Kindle's screen? Aren't both the same kind of artificial screen?

Kindle does not use a back light or light what so ever (there may be version I don't know of). Basically a major appeal of kindle is its like reading a sheet of paper.

The few people I know who got it love the fact it requires natural light again because its easy on the eyes. I mean I tired reading a novel once on a computer and hated it.

I didn't know about that, well.. that sucks.. One of the reasons of getting this (for me) would be the e-reader thing but knowing that it'll suck as much as reading in my laptop and that I'll go blind unless I get some glasses.. sucks..

So.. the iPad will get multitasking in the future update and you can get flash if you jailbreak it, what do you guys thing about it now

Having seen the games that are coming out for the device I could see picking one up for that. But its still pretty pricey.

That said there are Profession illustration apps coming out from companies like Autodesk which are pretty cool and would seemingly be very useful for computer sketches on the go.

I have been looking into getting one for my company so we can easily have our multimedia presentation anywhere we go. To bad it doesn't support flash.

Its still not really worth my while plus 64gb is a joke I saw a memory stick at the store with that much for $50. They need to get with the time and sell me a 250GB one.

Doesn't it only have mono sound as well?
