"I'm in some kind of a chamber. There's tile work... Slime! It's a river of slime! There's gotta be 25,000 gallons of it! It's flowing through here like a river! Van Horne! Pneumatic transit. I can't believe it! It's the old pneumatic transit system! It's still here! Okay! Whoa, whoa! That's good! Hold me up! Hold me up! That's good!"

Ok so this scene is based on 2 different ACTUAL train station

1 - The Pneumatic Transit System
2 - Old City Hall Station

Also as for the "City of Albany" trian that "killed hundreds of people"

From what i can tell that never happened however I did find this

New York Central Albany 2-10-1920
New York Central locomotive which jumped an elevated track at Albany at the foot of Maiden Lane and tore through a wall of a building, carrying the engineer and flagman with it and pinning them inside the cab for hours, seriously injuring them. The ruins caught fire, the engine was running light at the time. 2-10-1920.

The Pneumatic Transit System

In 1869, Alfred Ely Beach and his Beach Pneumatic Transit Company of New York began constructing a pneumatic subway line beneath Broadway. (Beach had earlier demonstrated the basic system at the American Institute Exhibition in 1867.) Its single tunnel, 312 feet long, 8 feet in diameter, was completed in 1870 and ran under Broadway from Warren Street to Murray Street.

The tunnel was demolished to build the BMT City Hall station. Beach's original station, built in part of the basement of Devlin's clothing store at the corner of Warren Street and Broadway, had long since been reclaimed for other uses.

Old City Hall Station

This was the insperation for the look as it is taken almost exactlly (the tile work and such)

City Hall station was in use for passengers until December 31, 1945. Increased ridership of the subway led to longer trains and thus longer platforms in the 1940s and early 1950s. The new, longer trains had center doors, and due to City Hall's tight curve, it became dangerous to open them because the doors were too far from the platform edge.

City Hall Station is removed from passenger service, but the track loop through it is still used to turn local trains on the Lexington Avenue Line (6 <6> (12) service). It has always been unclear as to whether passengers should be allowed to remain on trains as they run through the loop. In 2006, an internal memo stated that passengers were allowed to stay on trains around the loop. The general policy is that passengers leave the train if asked by staff.

In April 1995, federal grant money was sought to reopen the station as a branch of the New York Transit Museum, which occasionally ran tours of the station. In late 1998, due to perceived security risks in the area around City Hall, the plans and tours were cancelled, and passengers were prohibited from riding around the loop.
